Spinning 101 with Irina Lawrence

Have you always wanted to learn how to spin your own yarn? Now is your chance! Let one of our experienced instructors teach you the basics of spinning in this lesson. You will begin by learning a basic fiber preparation technique, and how to spin on a drop spindle. This will be followed by learning how to spin on a wheel*. We have a variety of wheels that you can sit at and see which feels best for you. By the end of the class, you will have your first skein of 2-ply yarn to take home! 

*if you have your own wheel, bring it along to the class and we can get you spinning on it!

Spinning 102 with Irina Lawrence

Have you learned the basics of spinning, but you're ready to refine your skills? We have the perfect class for you! Irina will teach you the next steps in technical spinning. You will learn about different fiber prep techniques and how they affect your finished yarn. You will also learn about twist, and different drafting & plying methods that you can experiment with that gives your yarn the look you want to achieve in your finished project.

  • Skill Requirements: Be comfortable knowing how to spin a consistent yarn without assistance.
 

Lockspinning with Jeri Robinson-Lawrence

Lockspinning is a great novelty spinning technique that allows you to spin with just fleece! Jeri will teach you four ways to lock spin, and tips and tricks to master this spinning technique.

  • Skill Requirements: Be comfortable knowing how to spin a continuous thread. Also, it is better to have a wheel with a slightly larger orifice.
