$50.00
Sold Out

This workshop will build on using the four traditional techniques used in the Crosswheel design and will explore ways to create different effects by altering how these techniques are applied and experimenting with wool weights. We will explore stitch patterns and see how stitches like the French knot can be used to add texture to your Dorset Buttons. And with all this knowledge you will have the opportunity to create your own Dorset Button design - the possibilities are endless! A traditional way to add flair to your most loved crafts. Tania will also show you how you can join your buttons together to make hanging festive decorations!

Date and Time: December 11, 2021. 10:00am - 12:00pm EST.

Class Materials Included: Set of dorset button rings, darning needle, and PDF handout.

Zoom link and materials will be sent out before class.

About the instructor: Tania of TJFrog was brought up in Dorset on the South Coast of England, and now lives on the Isle of Skye off the North West coast of Scotland. Tania is a Dorset Button maker, teacher, podcaster and hand knitter. Her aim is to contribute to keeping alive the traditional skill of Dorset Button making, a cottage industry dating back to the 1600s. It supported small Dorset rural villages and towns with many different designs adorning dresses and waistcoats. 2022 will see 400 years since the birth of the Dorset Button industry.
